The Pros and Cons of Chunk Tests
By C.D. One thing that every student dreads is the standardized tests such as the Benchmark and Chunk Tests. These are just two of the types of tests that students in the state of Arkansas must take. Chunk tests are a new form of tests that the Conway school district are forcing students to take every nine weeks while the Benchmark is a large test that is taken state wide every two years starting in the fourth grade. Most of us students at Conway High East feel strongly about the Chunk Tests. The student body of CHSE is against the Chunk tests, but there is a plus side to them too. The tests are taken to help improve our skills with standardized test taking to better prepare us for the ACT an SAT. By practicing our test taking skills, we have a better chance of doing better on ACT or SAT. Not only are test taking skills improved the scores are greatly changed too. With higher scores on standardized tests, the more options of colleges are opened to us students. Chunk Tests are a great practice for the ACT and SAT. They also have many more uses too. There are cons to standardized tests too. The great resentment shown towards them usually causes most of students to not care how well we do on them. They can cause our grades to drop. They also make us have great dislike of school. Most of us students tend to stress about them before we actually take them which will cause to perform badly. It also causes problems with sleep for some of us students also. Due to these tests, most of us students won’t be able to concentrate on anything else. These are just some of the problems that these tests cause. There are many pluses and minuses to these tests. These tests will be part of the fate that determines the rest of our lives.
